Calendar Picks: Teen Screams: Part 2 | Flagpole Magazine

Will Eskridge’s “Teen Screams” series debuted last year with paintings of classic monsters like Frankenstein and his Bride, Dracula, The Wolfman and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. The sequel, “Teen Screams: Part 2,” offers fleshy impasto portraits of some of the scariest psychopaths of the 1980s: Pinhead, Leatherface, Chucky, Michael Myers, Freddy Kreuger and Jason Voorhees. Whereas previous characters were painted onto brightly colored canvases, the new cast members appear on the classic icon background of gold leaf, nodding to their enduring legacy in cinematic history. “Teen Screams: Part 2” will remain on view at Buvez through Nov. 15. Will Eskridge celebrates “Teen Screams: Part 2,” a series of portraits of characters from scary movies. See Calendar Pick on p. 15.
